If my Runner (SR5 2006) came with 17" wheels can I still run 16" wheels? Will they clear the brakes and what not? Thank you guys.

I ask because as I stated in a separate post: I went to buy brake pads and they asked me what size wheels it has, 16 or 17", so I imagine there's a difference.

Dont quote me but I think you will be ok since you have an SR5. I believe the sport version had bigger rotors. Again I am not sure but I have a 04 SR5 and I run aftermarket 16" wheels.

Look on the back of a front caliper for the casting number. If it says 13wh anywhere you need 17" wheels, if it says 13wg then you're fine with 16" wheels.

I think when my tires wear out I will go with 16" wheels. I have the Sport Edition so I will have to downsize my calipers.
My reason, with the amount of off-roading I do I want all the sidewall I can get, plus, 35" tires look awesome on smaller rims!! I wish I could run 15" rims!

Thanks for the info. Now I'm WIGGING out because I just ordered a grand worth of wheels and tires and I'm not positive which I have. Someone else told me if it's an SR5 then it would run 16" without issue. I should've waited for a response.

Just crawled under the car with my phone and snapped the luckiest first try shot of life and VOILA! 13WG. Thank you so much.

By the book SR5 and Limited come with 13WG casting calipers and Sport Editions come with 13WH but the option could be ordered on any trim, so an SR5 (with upgraded 17" wheels from the factory) or a Limited (18" wheels from the factory) could very well have the "bigger" calipers.

Sounds like you've got your answer though, 16's will fit just fine.

They should've asked what trim do you have...although that may not clarify things since the Limited and SR5 have the smaller rotors or the larger ones if chosen as an upgrade. SE only had the larger rotors.

EDIT: The five spoke wheels are 17" and the 6 spoke wheels are 16". The 16" wheels can only be used on the smaller rotors.

My 04 SR5 came with 16" wheels. That is why I stayed with 16's

Wrong. These are the factory rims mine came with and they're 16".

Nope, my '07 SR5 came with 16's. In fact, they're for sale. ;):

i have a 2004 v8 sport, can i just change the rotor to fit 16 inch wheels? Or does the caliper need to be changed too? What is the difference in braking?

Matt

Yeah my mistake. MOST 4th gens came with the 17" five spokes. Some have the smaller 16" ones, indicating smaller rotor package.

I forgot how good my 4Runner looked. This is the last time I saw it in August. :crybaby:
