Hello,
I’m about to swap in a 170 degree thermostat into my 5vz-de with TRD S/C. I have one now that is the Advance Auto rebranded STANT 14077. This should be the same exact thermostat that NAPA and URD sells. After doing some research I’ve found that STANT has a superstat version part number 46077 which would give you more consistent cooling numbers and more reliability. I’ve also found that a Toyota 90916-03107 for the Carolla should also work. Which I’m leaning towards as they’re way more beefy than a parts store thermostat.
What do you guys run? It looks like most people run the NAPA/URD stat. But I’d like to run the superstat or Toyota thermostat. I’d be a little worried that running a cheap stat such as the NAPA/URD would be more prone to failure.
