unless the undercarriage is rusted away, that's a decent price. these are getting harder and harder to find, especially in this condition. someone will buy it for that price.

Last year of solid axle and first year of EFI. That has the best of both world's. However that price tag seem's a little high to me.

no, an '87 that has original paint/decals, correct good door panels, excellent frame, fewer miles, complete original interior except for the center console lid.
the dash on that '85 is better than mine, though.

between the 2, all things being equal, an 85 is worth more. in fact, the 85 can be in worse shape than an 87, and it will still be worth more.

Well having looked online in most of the U.S. for a 1985 22RE I only found maybe 20. Several of them were 'projects" and didn't run. Most were in pretty rough shape. Of the handful of nice ones that I found, none were cheap. Where is everyone getting the rare and in nice shape 85 22RE's below $5,000???

not to me. i prefer ifs. in any event, $7k is too much, let alone $9k. i'm happy with both of my $5k purchases, one 1987 with 97k miles, and the second 1987 with 238k miles. how about that? two complete running 4runners in equal or better condition than the one in this thread for virtually the same amount as the asking price. you will NEVER convince me that the solid axle is better for what i need out of them.

The solid axle is cool and all, but unless you're planning on beating up a 30+ year old rather rare SUV on a trail, then the IFS is better in every way. Not worth the price difference IMO. A 1986 Turbo is more desirable. A 1st gen V6 actually has adequate power too. Totally fine for doing a day two resto and going to cars and coffee.
