Well i put a new starter in and after 2 days it went back to the same problem of just clicking once. I was gunna get the Battery checked today, but....
(Truck specs: 1986 Toyota 4runner. 260,000 miles)
My starter went out a month or two back, but this thing could be push started by a breeze so i didn't mind. Replaced it last Saturday(8-14). It was nice to just turn a key to start it. But then 2 days later, same problem with the starter, just a click. And i couldn't hit it with a hammer to get it to work. SO it ws back to push starting... But SOMETIMES it was MUCH harder to get it started. The day before the big hail storm i parked it and noticed something leaking right of the passenger side of the radiator. no clue why, but it looked like red antifreeze. I was super busy and decided to look at later. (sadly i forgot and the following is what happend the next morning on my way to work)
I dropped my wife off at work and was driving to mine (about 15 min away). I started to smell something funny and knew it could only be my car. "i gotta look for that cause when i get to work" is what i thought. Then i started to hear a clicking... it was right in front of me, on the driver side of the engine. "i really got to look at this when i get to work(another 8 min away). Then i started to lose power, BOOOOO. Horse power took a drop and the ticking noise was only at certain RPM's. I Popped it out of 5th and the truck killed. So i quick popped it back into gear and went over a couple more hills to a better spot to pull over. It wasn't overheating(on the gauge at least). I pulled over (it killed as soon as i took it out of gear). I popped the hood and hopped out. There was a little bit of smoke i noticed before i opened the hood, and once i oped the hood i saw it was coming from the front of the engine, couldn't see where. I smelled it and i couldn't pin point what it was.
I triple a'd the truck home. Filled the radiator with a gallon of fluid (it was prolly the leak is saw). Push started it, it sputtered and would only work if i had the foot on the gas... When i oped the hood, no smoke but the it looked like the radiator was leaking like a siv... But it was suggested to me that it coulda been the water pump out and it was spraying out of one of the wheeping holes or whatever. Well at this point people, i am lost i have 5 people telling me it is a blown head gasket, i just have no clue. Any advice or anyone that can diagnose?
