1986 eXtra cab, the Back to the Future project begins

Either way it's a cool truck and I'm sure he'll love it! If he has it long enough maybe he can build it up a little. Is he doing most of the work under your supervision or is it the other way around?

I remember when I was about 14 or so my dad and I built my first vehicle. It was a 75 CJ5. I had to do all the work on it and he would hang out and help here and there but mostly supervise. It was a good experience and wouldn't trade it for anything. Someday I'll pollute this world with my offspring and I'll teach my boy how to build a car or truck.

Good for you for doing this with your son. That's a cool truck and an awesome time that you'll remember for ever.

My friend Tuck is doing most of the engine work with my son and me helping him. We are all having fun doing the project together. My son has a disability and can only do some of what needs to be done. I put the automatic in so he can drive it with me along for the ride

sweet project, i dont mean to be the bearer of bad news, but the "back to the future" truck was a 1985 with the solid axle other than that it looks sweet!

is that a D.O.A. motor? looks like their blue color

I know but it looks about the same. The blue is just spray paint silver blue my son picked it out. The engine is stock Toyota
