1986 Toyota 4runner Sunroof glass replacement --Looking for some advice.

Hi everybody --
I was driving down the highway the other day and the glass from my 86 4runner sunroof just flew off. Anyway, I bought a replacement piece of glass on ebay and was wondering if anyone ever tried to do this before. Looks like i should scrape all that old glue and rust out of there and wipe it clean. Then use some sort of adhesive to seal it on the frame. Is there a special adhesive? Any advice?

You'll want glue designed for auto glass, and it's probably a good idea to have it done professionally... Stop in at an auto-glass specialists and see what it costs to have them glue it.

The sunroof on my 87 4runner flew off and shattered. Where'd you buy the whole assembly?

I doubt you're gonna get a reply, this thread is over 6 years old!

I would suggest trying a couple of online Toyota junk yards, Yota Yard in Denver might have them, and if they don't, try googling "toyota junk yards", there's a post with a bunch of yota yards listed over at Yota Tech.

Bad Vision, how exactly does the sun roof come out? It looks like take the opening handle loose from the cab and pull it backward, is this right? Thank you for your help and did you sell it, in case I need it.

If you haven't figured it out, there are 4 small bolts holding the sunroof frame to the body at the front. 2 on each side. You have to pull the headliner down.
