Found a 86 4runner turbo for sale.
I'm not familiar with this model
How difficult is it to fix?
Can the vehicle run without turbo functioning?

if its a stock turbo chances are it is bad they tend to crack,there is a company called tec tubo that has a lot of parts

Since the compression is lower, driving it without the turbo means SLOOOOOOW.

It should work under light driving, I wouldn't floor it or bring it near boost because the ECU will probably dump fuel into it (my wideband shows change to rich mixture at about -2Hg vacuum).

CT-26 Supra turbos are plentiful and can be cheap. Some work is required, but can be used with almost all stock parts. If you plan to own and wrench on a 30 year old truck, that's probably not too big a deal.
