Gas mileage with the automatic is very poor (something to do with how lock up was designed) --- on V6 I hear 10-13 mpg city so look for the 5 spd. Check for rust in the rear wheel wheels - not structural but even well care for ones may have it. Most V6 have had the head gasket recall so engine may be newer than mileage. I had a 22RE 4 cyl 4WD with the 5 spd. Mileage was 16-18 around town and up to 24 on a trip --- not great but better than V6. Performance is not great though - hills and full load require a lot of shifting. 22RE is bullet prof engine though -- suspect with a few mods performance could be made acceptable.

92 v6 5-speed.
when I first bought my t4r last winter I was getting 19-21.5 MPG. I bought a K&N cold air intake and I now get 22 to 24 MPG. That is even going to Whistler regularly. (5000 ft climb in 25 miles) I have put 5000 miles on the vehicle in the last 6 weeks and I have been checking my mileage every tank. There is no noticable difference in mileage between the stock 225 75 r15s and my 31x10.5 tires. My engine had a rebuild, courtesy of Toyota, about 60,000 km ago when they did the head gasket recall. I have to make an appointment for the steering box recall yet. All in all I love my toy and happy I bought it, despite the rusting fenders. One other problem they have is the back window tracks and gears rust and burn out the electric motor, then you can't open the rear door. I can't find an autowrecker in BC that has a rear window motor.

there was this fuel bottle i brought, or well my brother brought for me. you pour it into your gas line and it staays there forever its suppose to break down the gas easier and you get more mileage out of it. works for any car. the thing is you have to orde rit from japan lolz

It's not the steering box --- it for the steering link -- the long steel arm that goes from one side to the other.
