1990 4-Runner rear door window

I have a 1990 4-runner 4-door V6 Auto
I cannot get my back door window to go down . I can hear a clicking sound when I push the switch on the consule , I hear the clicking in the rear of the 4 RUNNER but its not in the rear door it sounds like its coming from the area by the storage compartment and where the rear speaker is on the drivers side. Is there a solenoid behind the wall. I do not see a selinoid in the rear door.
The motor that runs the mechanism works fine if I push the UP switch but will not do anything if I push the down switch? Using the key in the back door is the same nothing for down but works for up? I have the pannel off the rear door there is no moisture , no rust, and all the wiring looks good. What make the motor reverse. Do I have a bad motor or a bad solenoid? Where is the solenoid??


Whats a good way to trouble shoot cruise control thats not working? When I push the on/off switch on the steering wheel the cruise light on the dash comes on. When I push the set switch nothing happens. I don"t have a vaccume leak. How many fuses are there for the cruise and where are they? How can I check out the main cruise unit under the hood? Is it possible the switch on the steering wheel is bad?

Is it the tailgate window that you are have trouble with. That is what I am having some trouble with.

With mine the motor works and the switch in the console works but when I try the switch in the tailgate to roll the window down it doesn't work. I have checked the switch and it's fine. I am wondering if it is a relay? Does anyone know were the relay is at?

Pop off the interior access panel on the rear gate. Just carefully slip your fingers behind the carpeted panel and you'll feel the snap closures 'give' as y ou work your way around the edge. Once inside, check for loose or corroded grounds. Mine went thru a period of not working at the console switch, but would work with the key.

Turns out, I had a couple of issues goin on. There was some loose weather stripping along the bottom of the gate, and it was letting some splash get up inside the gate. I fixed the weather stripping, but still no-go. I bought a can of electronic contact cleaner from Radio Shack and shot the switch. Fixed the problem.
