I have a 93 4runner 4x4 5speed with a 3.0 and it blew a head gasket looking for a place to get another engine with low miles and a decent price...or swap it to a 3.4 if its possible and worth the money and how difficult would it be????

a) A '93 is a second gen, you're in the wrong forum ;).

b) You get another motor at the junkyard or, rebuild the one you have. or you Google "JDM 3VZE" and go from there. Each approach has it's plusses and minuses.

c) A 3.4 swap is more than possible, it's common.

d) Whether it's worth the money depends on how much money you have and how much you like having it and how much of it you're willing to trade to have 180ish horses instead of 150ish horses under your hood.

e) How difficult it is depends entirely on your skill set, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say it's beyond you. Seriously, if you don't have the resources to Google basic questions like these, you've got no business thinking swap in the first place. My advice, just take your truck to a mechanic and hand him your wallet and get it over with.

Wow.... A) First of all I apologize for being in the wrong forum this is my first 4 runner!
B)what is the point of a forum if I can't ask question like that I'm reaching out for people with experience to see whether its worth the fix swap or whatever!!!

C) and I'm a heavy equipment mechanic for a construction company I'm pretty sure my mechanical skills are just fine i just dont no much about toyotas or else i wouldnt be asking questions so maybe instead of insulting someone next time you can just point me in the right direction of whether I should waste my time or not with this suv.... Thanks for your input shows me already how people act when you ask for help on these forums!

If you search the forums on the 3.4L swap I'm sure there's some detailed writeups with pictures on here, if not I know I remember seeing a bunch on Yotatech.

It's not terrible if you have the tools. I think there's some welding required for the crossover pipe and mounts, but don't quote me on that. I thought about doing it on my 91 Pickup since my engine is dying but figured I wanted a 4Runner anyway so decided against it.

Thanks I do appreciate the input I was just tryin to see how difference the money was going to be and is it worth my time! Because I need back on the road asap! But thanks again

Its just blown head gaskets so why not just have the heads refreshened and repqlce the head gaskets. Much faster and cheaper than replacing the 3.0 or swapping in a 3.4. Yeah wrong section for 2nd gen questions.
