I bought my '94 3.0 5spd at 130K miles 10 years ago, and have put 85K on it since. I'd still trust it on any cross-country or back-country trip. Over the years, it's been one of the lowest maintenance vehicles I've ever owned, especially for that mileage. Subtracting out routine stuff like brakes, tires, and oil, and upgrade mods (lockers, etc.) I've made, total repairs have been less than $2000, the big one being a rear crank seal that cost about $1000 to have the mechanic do it (he did the clutch at the same time since it was apart.)
As far as daily driving, I get about 18-19 mpg in town, 20-21 in <65 mph rural/mountain driving, and 17 on the freeway at 75.
The 145K mileage wouldn't bother me, but at 23 yrs of age I'd want to check carefully for rust, both on the frame and over the fenders.
