1994 head gasket concerns

My 4runner had the recall done at 117,xxx miles. It now has 155,xxx miles. Is it possible to just replace the head gasket before it blows, just to avoid it going again. And if so what is the best head gasket I can buy for it?

Toyota, as well as the aftermarket (FelPro maybe?), came out with improved gaskets to address the problem. The dealer would have used the new one.

That's a lot of work to replace somthing that doesn't need it, and never may.

I was reading alot that they go out again and toyota does not pay for it. Is the reason it costs so much because of labor? If i did it myself how much woould it be? Because new head gaskets and bolts are only like $100.
