1994 SR5 trans issue

I have a 1994 SR5 4runner with 225000 miles. When the truck is cold, I generally do not have any issues. Once the truck gets warm (IE operating temp) the transmission starts to act up. When I stop at a stop sign or traffic light and start to move forward again it seems like the tuck does not want to go forward. The RPM go up and the truck is REALLY slow to accelerate. If I put the shifter into low gear (regardless of in 4X4 or not) everything functions normally. Then when I get to enough RPM's and speed I can shift into drive (D) and all is well.

Another issue is the over drive. After about 30 minutes of driving, the O/D off light flashes and takes the truck out of over drive. If I shift into neutral and re start the engine, the light stops flashing and it seems to work for a while.

Any Ideas on these issues?

Sounds like you've got one heck of a ghost. It's really really hard to trouble shoot by text or phone but it's always a good suggestion to start with the basics. If anything it gives those you ask a better idea of where to start with suggestions and what to eliminate. The slow accelerations with high rpm could be a result of low ATF. I would start with that, maybe look into having your filter replaced. If you've already done so, after that it gets a more in depth. Your second issue sounds like some sort of short. That everything resets after you open and close the ignition switch could be a faulty relay. Relays can get really funky sometimes. I'm not education specific on 2nd gen automatic transmissions so I'm positive someone else here has so more experience but I've been fighting some really weird issues with Alison Transmissions lately and it's all been because of shorts or relays opening up occasionally when they should't. I started digging a bit more and it turns out the shift solenoid is bad. I am going to swap that out and see what happens.
