I bought a 95 runner with about 110k on. The check engine light came on, took it to local Toyota dealer. Spent 500 dollars on EGR valve and since then it has been back twice and after leaving the garage the chekc engine light keeps coming on. The service tech now we might have to put in a new brain.
I am disgusted, anybody have any suggestions:redbrick:

I don't know. The local Toyota dealer has done all the work.
I was just looking for suggestions for them to fix the problem

I would stop taking it to the dealer. These older vehicles are way too easy to work on.

Do a quick search on how to read the check engine light. Basically, there's a port under your hood and you need to bridge two wires together. Once they're bridged you turn your key on to the acc position and count the times the cel light flashes. That's your code. Google the code and that will tell you your problem.

If you do a bit of searching and research, you can easily find your problem and fix it yourself. In my opinion, these older vehicles aren't even close to being worth enough to pay dealer prices to fix.
