So... this is only my second post but, i joined for some advise from you guys as to what the problem may be or you could possibly pulled your hair out as well. So i've got a 1995 runner 4 cyl 5 speed 4wd. It's run like a champ for the past 2 years my gf has been driving it. I've done some rather harmless maintenance to it, drive belts, plugs & wires, ign coil, seafoamed her and replaced exh mani gasked and fuel filter. well a while back it would randomly start to sputter under 2k rpms and as you can imagine it wouldn't move much. I had to ride the clutch and keep the rpms up just to get it to move, wich is what caused me to do the maintenance. so... we're off, drove it for a good 3 weeks no problems then BAM sputtering like a s.o.b. i jumped my diag box and the only code it's throwin is for a temp sensor, wich btw is not where the haynes says it is. so, i dunno. I was thinking it was the fuel pump but when it won't even start i floor it and let off while cranking then floor as soon as it hits a bit and it will chug out some serious black smoke all @ a whopping 200 rpm, since i kind of thought it was the fuel pump the black smoke led me to believe otherwise. so i'm thinking either there is trash in the tank or as i mentioned igntion issue. Anything thing similar happen to you guys.
