1996 2.7 5 speed 4x4

I have been looking for a 4runner and came across this one recently. It is in pretty good shape overall- has the typical clear coat issues on the hood and roof that the anthricite runners have. Has 215,000 miles and new tires but I would want to replace the clutch since it has a rear main leak. Am I crazy for considering the 2.7 5 speed combo? I am looking to use it as a winter/ hunting vehicle it won't be an everyday driver but I am sure I will drive it more than I think. I can get it for $1800. Is that ok price wise for having to do rear main/clutch job?

I think the 3RZ is a nasty little beast. If it's rust free, I'd grab it for $1,800. Where are you located? That has a lot to do with value.

get it. immediately get rid of the exhaust manifold. if it isn't cracked already, IT WILL. get either the tacoma stock header or anything aftermarket. these little things are awesome. maybe if you get lucky enough it'll already come with 4.56 gears from the factory. lowest gearing on 3rd gens you can get and it's only on 4 cylinder 4x4's so that's a plus just super rare. either way. just check out that manifold before you get it.

Forgot to add that- he had the manifold replaced after it cracked. It was repaired at a independent shop- would that make it good to go or could it crack again? It was replaced in the last yr or so.
