1996 roof rack on 1997

I'm looking for a roof rack on my 1997. Found a 1996 that is being parted out on the forum. Will it fit mine? Mine has plastic stripos running up the roof, will it bolt right in? It would be shipped all the way across the country so I want to make sure it fits

I see no reason why it shouldn't. Be sure to put silicone where the bolts go into in order to prevent leaks.

All 96 - 02 are identical. The 2nd generation roof racks are narrow for a 3rd gen.

There are better choices than silicone. Many silicones are acid curing and actually promote corrosion and paint damage.

An autobody sealer is a much better option.

Good to know. I never removed the roof rack but users on here usually use silicone.

x's 10. You are good. Like they all said it will fit.

Another note the end caps should be installed while the rail is loose or off so you don't break the tab that go into the body or the tab that goes into the rail.

Also, paint them really well before you install them, makes a world of difference.
