The 3.4l came with coil packs, you'll see them on your passenger side valve cover, (3 of them) under your intake, you'll see each one has a ignition wire running across the front of the motor to the other valve cover for your other 3 plugs.

They are super expensive. No need to replace one unless you are 100% sure the coil pack is causing it.

as far as brand OEM only. and i think they are over $200 each and you will need 3.... Good luck with what ever you are doing

You can pick em up on Amazon for $24, not sure of the quality but the part# is the same as the OEM part# (I would only buy OEM)

The chances of all 3 coil packs going bad at the same time are tiny so you'll probably only need one if anything. If one of the coil packs is bad, you will get P0300-P0306 codes which means the engine is missing and will narrow it down to specific cylinders. Since each coil pack controls 2 cylinders, you will see 2 miss codes almost always. If your engine isn't missing, then your coils are fine so don't worry about them. If you do get a code (or codes), you can switch coil packs - if the miss code moves with the coil pack, you got a bad one. If the miss stays with the same cylinder(s) you have another issue (like plugs, wires, coil pack boots, injectors, valvles, etc..).

What do you think of the NGK Iridium plugs? I know the double prong plugs were revolutionary for 1996-2000 but technology has changed since then. I've had good success with Iridiums in my 99 corvette but I'm new to the Toy 3.4L.

I use Denso Iridium IK22's on my 4Runner. Single prong. No problems. Runs great. Better than my "OEM Factory Toyota Blah blah" ones did.

I tend to think that they run better on yours since its FI'd. That's just my thinking though lol.
