S sgtnomore New member Nov 21, 2010 #1 I have a 97 auto 4x4 and when you put it in drive you have to bring rpms up to 2000 or so before it will go forward. And this seems to stop after truck warms up. To me it feels like it is in 4wd also the 4wd light doesnt come on.

AddictedOffroad New member Nov 21, 2010 #2 Sounds like its starting out in 2nd or 3rd gear when cold. Usually a shift solenoid is the issue. Can you pull codes?
