1998 4Runner Limited Digital Clock

My clock has gone and looking for a few suggestions on how to replace it. OEM has it for over $200.00 and I find that ridiculous for a little digital clock in the dash. Any help out there?

I was flipping thru some old threads and came across this. If you are still interested in the clock fix you can get a clock for your truck at the toyota dealer just ask for the clock from the accessories catalog it will plug right in and you can get it in either red or green. I think the final cost is $60-$65

Lots of luck on the plug in. Mine went intermittent (98 4 Runner). Well, I tapped it and it came back on....after a bunch of taps over the years, I tapped it once too often and it fell back into the dash. Now I can't even see it back in the depths of the dash. So I bought a LCD at the hardware store for 7.98 and glued it in place of the old one. Works like a charm...except it's not lit at night.

Now that's classy --- might just be loose plug on the back of the original clock? Its not that difficult to pull the dash panel, remount clock, and check plug. I hate to see folks cobble up a decent vehicle. Might not be a mechanic but that is pretty simple job - learn to maintain/fix your yota and you'll save lots of $$$ --- unless you're Bill Gates then don't worry about it (Til we all see the light and switch to LINUX).

yes i love that man. open source pride. windows can kiss my ass. open source has all of its users constantly pumping our "new and improved" versions, so in little time, we have to redefine perfection. sry to stray off topic. just a good discussion...


if the gluing worked out with the LED, then props to you man. my clock sometimes doesnt work. i know when the clock flickered in my moms explorer i was driving, i just punched it a few times and it would work, until i punched it so hard it broke ohh well its a ford...) why doesnt it stay lit at night?

Its not that difficult to pull the dash panel, remount clock, and check plug.

I agree.

- First check the dome lamp fuse;
- If that's OK, then check voltage at clock harness connector;
- If that's OK, Toyota says to buy a new $300 digital clock;
- But what I did was pull the center cluster, open up the clock, rewire the clock circuit board, and put it all back together.
- Works like a charm!
