1998 automatic door unlocking - Normal Behavior???

I have a 1998 4runner limited and had a question regarding a strange phenomenon where the doors unlock automatically. I was wondering if this phenomenon is occurring due to the factory alarm module, or some other sort of locking module device hidden in the car.

Here is what happens and how to repeat this event:
1 - Lock doors, close all doors, and exit vehicle
3 - Open drivers side door with a key
4 - Enter vehicle and shut all doors
5 - Start vehicle
6 - Open and shut drivers side door

What happens at this point is all the doors unlock. Does this happen on everyone's 3rd Gen 4runner?

The reason I am asking is because when I bought the car I found out that there was an aftermarket alarm system that was installed (then later removed) at some point and it looks like the factory alarm was removed at that time. I would like to know if there might be an aftermarket module that may be responsible for the unlocking doors hidden somewhere in the vehicle.

I have looked high and low for the factory alarm RS3000 (that according to the VIN and the window stickers, was installed at the factory)

Anyone???

If the keys are in the ignition and you aren't sitting in the driver's seat then the doors won't lock.

With late model Hondas it's almost impossible to lock yourself out since you need either the key or a key fob to lock one up,there is no hitting the locks and just shutting the door.

mine does this too, but i think mine is because my driver door sensor is messed up, on every bump it would say its open, the light comes on, doors unlock
