I've searched and read, but haven't found a clear answer. The woman broke my fob and now I'm replacing it with a cheap ebay one

I've read the TSB and the rs3000 manual. My rs3000 ecu is under the seat. I found the green button, but I can't get the Status LED to turn on or program my fob. Seems like this should be simple. My alarm was working just fine until the OEM fob exploded.

Anybody run into the same problem? I found results on the problem but haven't found a solution yet.

Clear the ECU of your old key fob first. Then try programming it to the new one. I know it is supposed to be capable of storing up to 4 fob (IIRC), but my new OEM fob would not program either until I cleared the computer of the old one first.

I can't even get to that point.

I'm having problems trying to enter the programming mode. I hit the green button for 3 seconds and nothing happens. Status led never lights up.

Are you sure you are hitting the button properly? When I did it, I used a paper clip and it kept poking holes in the dang button. Had to push it just right so that it actually depressed the button and not push through it.

Similar problem

I have a 98 Limited that has the VIP RS3000 system in it. I did not have any key fobs for it when I bought it. I contacted a local Toyota dealer and requested the part number for the correct fob for my VIN. I purchased this fob online, it's an OEM dark grey one. When trying to program the fob following the directions found on many forums, the Piezo chirps twice and the headlights flash after pushing the top button on the fob. I turn the key off and close the door. When I push the button again, nothing happens. No chirps, and doors do not lock/unlock. Has anyone experienced this before? I'm not sure where to start to trouble shoot.
