Our 97 limited has the rs3000 alarm with black fobs. It’s stuck in ‘passive arm mode’. I can follow the steps everyone knows:
Key on
Long press both buttons
Two press of top button (double chirp)
Turn key to lock (triple chirp)
But it stays in passive mode.
I’m wondering if that is the wrong procedure or not the whole thing. Arguably the manual I downloaded MIGHT show more steps (or it might just have pretty drawings for clarification under the procedure) because it implies that I should continue and turn the key back to on, do the double press thing again and then turn the key back to lock again. But that seems weird.
Also, my wife thinks programming the rs3000 with black fobs might be different than programming the rs3000 with gray fobs (98 and later).
But we just don’t know.
Does anyone actually know?
We despise that the truck keeps arming on its own.
