Hi I have shaking when I'm accelerating usually around 20-40 mph and it seems to get better if I'm going like 45-50, I took it to a shop, And they said it was the U joints that were causing my shaking. And they wanted like 320 parts and labor to replace two of them, I guess the ones they think are causing my shaking. Is this a fair price, and does my problem really sound like a U joint problem. Idk if I can trust this shop.

go with the toyota parts. they shop might try to put the cheap stuff on there.

You should post what you have. Where your from. Members on the forum will be able to suggest a reputable mechanic in your area.

As for the vibration, could be anything. If you want to be sure it is the drive shaft, (only if you have 4x4) Remove the 8 14mm bolts that hold it on, remove the drive shaft, then drive your 4runner in 4 wheel drive. If the vibration goes away, then it was the drive shaft. You should be able to pick up a used one from a salvage yard for less then $100.

Definitely your u joints if it's only under acceleration. Just had the same issue with mine. Replacement u joint is $20 and honestly, you can probably do it yourself. Even if you can't, you can certainly remove the driveshaft yourself. Take it to a shop, they'll probably press the old one out and the new one in for less than $50. $70 total your fixed. Also, you most likely only need to replace the rear most one. The ones in the front of the driveshaft are much more difficult, they're under pressure as there us a CV joint in between them. (or the equivalent of one anyway).
