1999 4R Limited

I am looking at buying a 99 limited 4R. The rear is making a clicking and popping noise. I would like to buy the 4R but my mechanic thinks we will have rebuild the rear end. What are my options for the rear end? buy a used one? etc? I am dumb when it comes to this. Please feel free to give advise. The 4R is selling for cheap!!!!! 194K miles on it. Thanks for any help.

I bought a rear end from a junk yard a few months back for $575 and paid my buddy $200 to put it in, thats just my case and you gotta find one with the right gear ration and such

You wouldn't need to swap the whole rear in most cases. Just the 3rd member. There's one for sale in the classifieds on here actually. Simple swap, less than 2 hours.
