1999 4runner ABS Problems

Hello,

I have been having a problem with my 4Runners ABS. It seems to be working fine until I break hard. There is a very loud grinding noise coming from the ABS box. I have had a mechanic put a computer on the car and there wasn't a problem code for the ABS. I have tried just about everything and now have run out of ideas. I would appreciate it very much if someone could help me with this matter. Kind Regards Scott

Normally it makes a loud grinding noise from the box when ABS is being engaged. Its a pump pressurizing the fluid to very very high pressures.
Are you saying this happens just when braking hard and not when ABS is engaging (pedal vibrates, etc.)?

Yes the noise is comming from the ABS box i think, a loud grinding noise. The problem is that it slows me down and then the breaks cut out. Have you herd of this situation before. Cheers
