1999 manual hub conversion

If I currently have auto hubs on my 99 4runner, must I replace axles to convert to manual hubs? Or can I simply purchase manual hubs and bolt them in place of the auto hubs?

Im pretty sure its a massive undertaking to convert too, could be wrong though.

Thanks, I had read this article prior to posting my thread. If its this easy why are there kits sold with axles, and why are people pulling spindles etc even to the point of loosing their abs, if its a simple fix? Warn's web sight list a hub for the truck but not the 4runner, the truck hub states its a replace for factory manual hubs. This made me believe that it would require more. Have I confused my self or what.

that link for the auto to manual hub conversion is for 2nd gen runners.the manual hub conversion for 3rd gens is alot more involved.easiest way would be to find a manual hub setup off a early model tacoma.

Thanks, that's what I was thinking. And by "set up" you mean hubs, axles, spindles etc?
Does this mean I would not have abs anymore?

yep you would need the hubs,axles and spindles.i'm not 100% sure on the abs though.I have had a few friends do manual hub conversions this way,but they were tacomas and they didn't have abs.

I have done them on my Tacomas and Runner. If you want to keep your ABS you will have to use your spindles. Have a machine shop press out the ADD hub.You will have to replace the bearing,it will get destroyed. Once the new bearing is in place have the manual hub pressed in and add the ABS ring then the nut.That is all that is involved. Get MANUAL cv's and put back together..I have always used Aisian lock-outs but the warn will work..Good luck......
