Could use some serious advice!! A few months ago I had my battery replaced at a local auto parts store. Little did I know the kid installing the battery had NO clue what he was doing. He dropped in the wrong batter and forced the negative and positive leads onto the opposite posts and I wasn't paying attention so by then it was too late! No only did he blow the fusable link, which I've since replaced, but he blew the whole right side of the interior electrical (Dome Light, Clock, Radio, Rear Luggage Light). I checked the manual and realized that the blown items listed above all share the same fuse on the under the motor fusebox, it's listed as 'Dome 15A' in the manual. It seems that as soon as I push in a new fuse it pops immediately. I pulled the radio out of the dash to take it out of the equation but the fuse still pops immediately as soon as I replace it under the hood. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!

Dome wiring
Driver Side J/B
I can't see anything in that circuit, other than the Body ECU, the Back Door ECU or the Combination Meter (dash gauges) that would be damaged by reverse polarity. It's all switches and lights, otherwise. So you have to track down the short. Look at the links above. At the junction box by the driver's left knee, there is Connector 1E that carries the whole circuit. Open that connector and see if fuse still pops. (Unlikely, but then short is between there and the fuse.) Reconnect 1E. Then open connector 1A and 1F in turn. ONE of those should have the short. Then just follow the short back through the circuit until you isolate it. For example, if it's in 1F, then try 3C in the Center J/B. I don't know how else to do this.
Actually, I'd start by pulling B16 from the Body ECU. My WAG is that's the most likely spot. Then I'd probably be wrong and and have to start the way I described.

cjm1971 - Sounds like there might of been some wires that got fried. There is probably some shorting going on causing you to blow the fuse each time it opens the circuit....You would need to go through and check the resistance of each wire pertaining to the problem. Very time consuming. As mentioned above I would get your truck to a qualified shop for repair. Before you do though, I would go through a file a formal complaint with the auto parts store management and corporate office. Get EVERYTHING in writing!! If it was just a fuse, no big deal but since you can't keep a fuse the problem is obviously a melted wire, etc...Good luck with that!!
Electrical Issues
I may not have the same issue with someone installing a battery incorrectly but, I had an arc that occurred near the interior fuse box due to aftermarket light switches touching something, and now my dome lights don't work, my horn doesn't work, my hazards don't work, I can't get my shifter out of park. I checked all of the fuses and none of them have been blown and I haven't checked my relays yet, which I plan to do. I plan on looking more in-depth to see where exactly the arc occurred but why have all of the stuff that I listed, stop working? Any Ideas???
