$1k for Revo's???

Alright, I know that the Bridgestone Revo's aren't a cheap tire, and I wanted to price out both the Revo's and the Goodyear Silent Armors before I pulled the trigger on one or the other. Let's just say I had a bit of sticker shock. I was looking at 265/75/R17 "P" rated.

I went into a local shop today an I'm quoted $1,000 even for 5 tires, mounted and balanced. They wouldn't give me anything for my OEM Dunlops that have 18k on them, which I can understand. But they wouldn't give me anything for the brand new spare. They basically said they would shave off a few extra bucks for not buying the spare.

I know Tire Rack is cheaper but I wasn't expecting to pay that much for 5 tires out the door. Tire Rack has both the Revo and the SA listed at $156. Am I living in fantasy land thinking that it would be closer to $800-$900 for Revo's or SA's at a local shop? I haven't priced the GY SA's yet so I'm hoping that I can get a better price than the Revo's. And try out a few different shops....

It might be worth a check at your Toyota dealer. Mine bought my Revo's from Tire Rack and only charged me their cost for the tires (cheaper than my online price) and then their standard rate to mount and balance them.

My dealer has been exceptional when it comes to purchasing parts and accessories at a discount.

Yeah...check out Discount. I had a set of well-used Kuhmos and they gave me credit for all of them. Plus, lifetime roadhazards and free rotations/balancing for life.

Is there a Discount Tire near you?

Yup, and that is where I am going next. I believe they stock both Bridgstone and Goodyear at Discount, which are the two brands I'm considering.

Glad to hear I haven't fallen completely off my rocker. ;):

Yes they all are pricey aren't they.

My local firestone dealer told me to come back in mid August and maybe he could do better if I went with Revo's again , I don't know about the Firestone AT , or the Bridgestone regular AT.

I saw an H3 with what seemed like Bridgestone AT ( were not Revos ) on it and the looked pretty cool , but have not seen that one in person. We have the regular BS AT(non Revo)on the Escape . Obviously never off road but wife drives through some pretty narly road snow and deep stuff in the mornings this past winter and she said they perform excellent . This past winter she had to drive through some 10-14" snow to get to work on some unplowed country roads.

I called another local place about Revo's and they were 1000 with free , lifetime , bal , rotate .

And that was for a set of 4.

wow. I thought the Scorpions were expensive.....everything that oil touches is pricey these days be it tires or milk in the supermarket.

Well, I just got back from Discount and they quoted me $1,031 for a set of 5 Revo's (GY SA's were $2 more per tire) including lifetime balance, rotate, etc.

Sounds like I'm going to be coughing up a few bucks more for new meats than I had initially expected...

Interesting side note.....the manager I spoke with at Discount told me that they were going to be getting a set of BFG AT KO's back from a 4R owner who went up to the 70 series and couldn't handle the rubbing issues. He was going to trade them in for the 65 series Revo's sine the KO's don't come in the stock size.

I would check out the general grabber AT2s both me and my parents have a set on our 2003 4runners. They are basically the same as the bfg all terrains but for about $50 cheaper. They are a bit louder than others on the road but traction is excellent and for the price I would recommend them to anyone.

Just bought Bridgestone Duel Revo's for my 96 4runner. $132.00/tire balanced and free rotation. I guess I must be geting a heck of a deal on these things.

Firestone store here in North Dakota quoted me $129 plus tax per tire. At first I was going to go find another tire, but after reading this I think I am doing just fine.

96 4runner calls for P225/70 R15's. So I am getting the recommended sized tired. Maybe that is the difference. I am just stock, no lift.
