Maybe you can get the wife/gf/female friend to put that starter back in when it's ready : )

A womans hands can get in to put that starter in alot easier than the average mans hands (I should know - I did the bolts in under 5 minutes... no need for any extensions).

It's not that bad... I have huge-ass hands with sausage-link fingers, and if you go in from the top over the pass. side fender, it pretty much falls into place...

I took it out by taking off the tire. Can it be installed more easily this way (over the fender)?

Thanks,

Shawn

Yeah, it's alot easier... I can't remember-you might have to get one of the bolts from under... But yeah it should save alot of time, and it pretty much just slips in.

Cool, thanks. I should be getting those copper contacts tomorrow...????

Well, I replaced both copper contacts, put the starter back in, put a new battery in it and guess what......it STILL does the SAME thing....half cranks when I turn the key...

fuel pump

I replaced the fuel pump today. Then it started right up!.....BUT, it idled very fast and started to overheat within five minutes...so I shut it off. And, guess what!? It started doing the same thing, not starting, making the same half cranking sound. What's up with this thing?

Dude, I definately think you tweeked your distributer shaft. I would take the whole distributer shaft out and check it. Messed up idle, and overheating could be from your timing being screwed up due to the screwed up distributer.

People keep telling me that wouldn't keep it from starting....but I'll DEFINITELY check that next.

Thanks,
