1st gen body swap..

I am picking up a 85 body and frame to swap onto my 84 4runner and was wondering if it would be easier to swap the bodies or swap all the axles, engine/tranny, transfer case, etc all over to the 84 instead of putting the 85 body on my 84

I assume both frames are in good shape? If not, I would use whatever frame is clean and rust free. Otherwise you're probably better off swapping bodies.

I just remembered my bumpers, rock sliders and ifs box are all welded to the frame..

i agree! in the long run you're better off sticking with the one with the better frame. bumpers and sliders can easily be cut off and rewelded. as far as your steering box goes, why was it welded to the frame?

The box itself is not welded but the mounting plates used so the IFS box would fit were welded on.
