1st gens had solid front axels up front correct?
Would it be possible to do a sas with this?
I don't plan on doing it until summer next year but just trying to gather research. I haven't seen this done. That is why I'm posting it.

only 84 and 85's had solid axles. and really they are impractical for swapping into your 3rd gen Runner. first, early runners with Solid Axles are passenger side drop pumpkin and your runner is drivers side drop. Secondly the front Toy solid axle is 55 inches WMS to WMS. The track width of your runner is 61 inches wide. So really narrow for your truck. Both of those can be worked around with lots of work and money but I think you would be better off finding a ford dana 44 or 60 since they are both passenger side drop and happen to be high pinion and much closer in width to the rear of your runner. lots of great builds over on yotatech.com. Do lots of reading to see what your getting your self into. Good luck.:D

A Dana 44 was my second choice. My only concern was having to buy new rims. But thanks! And yes I stayed up tell five am researching on yotatech

you can hang different spindles of a dana 44 that are 6 lug... you can get dana 44s that are 5,6, and 8 lug all depends on the application and all dana 44 stuff will swap from one to another for the most part, like the outer knuckles and spindles ect.

He has, I got this on expeditionportel,
Diamond Axle. 66" Width. passenger drop diff. 9.5" Land Cruiser center section. Toyota IFS hub assemblies. stock 4runner/Tacoma brakes. 30 spline Longfield Superaxles. ARB, 5.29s

yeah both of my 85 pickups had the factory aisin auto locking hubs... but you dont want the auto hubs, the suck and you will break them, they are harder to service and yeah manual hubs are cheaper and easier to get parts for and work with.

Sale that mall queen

And get a Real 4Runner can’t do much with those here a pic of a real one
