1st Generation Compatibility Question

Hi all,

I have a quick question about 1st Gen. I have a 1985 project sitting on my property. I purchased it several years ago with motor problems and some body damage. I had the motor rebuilt from a shop, but never I never reassembled the 4runner due to time constraints.

I have been thinking of getting a 86-89 in better body shape and interior to combine parts.

Are all/most mechanical, body, and interior parts interchangable for the first generation? Can I easily convert str8 front axle from my 85 onto an 86-89, utilize EFI on later models instead of my 85 efi, etc.

Pretty much all of the chassis/body parts are the same for 1st generation 4runners. Some engine electrical parts from around 88-89 will have slight changes from the earlier years.

They also did have a few minor changes of the interior in 89.
Specifically the parking brake handle, and gas pedal won't swap over from earlier years onto an 89 body.

Still currently finding minor differences as i complete my body swap.
