Two pieces of chrome windshield molding flew off my 1986 4Runner while exiting an Los Angeles freeway. After parking 1 long block away, I walked back onto the off ramp to see if any of it was salvageable - no it had been twisted and pulverized quickly into the asphalt. Driving home, the remaining 3/4 of the chrome trim noticeably chattered, making me wonder if the rest would fall off.
I have now ordered replacement pieces, and guessed what clips are missing. All that remains appears original, (101,000 miles), I will likely have to hunt for an auto glass specialist who is familiar with repairing a 1st generation.
