1st problem withe the Runner!

Just alittle while ago I went to start it (97 SR5 3.4) and the 1st turn was nothing...everything powered up but did not start...turned 2nd time and started right up. This happend 2 more times after that. What could it be?

bad starter? hit the starter with a stick and im not kidding about that

if it started, its probably no the starter. if it clicked and didnt turn the engine, i'm gonna go with starter contacts. the exact same thing happended to me. at first it was like one or two turns and it crank, after a week it was like ten or twelve turns, but it never left me stranded you just gotta keep cranking it. but you do need to get it fixed. it was like $100 at the stealership.

DO NOT STRIKE THE STARTER
it's a magnetic gear reduction unit and hitting it will break the magnet.

Check your battery cables, they're probably loose. Then check the connections at the starter and make sure they're tight and free of corrosion.
