2/1 Lift or 1" Front Only??

at least everyone agrees that any lift is better than stock...

Very true. 4th gens shouldn't have come with that horrid squashed nose in the first place. That was their biggest mistake from the 3rd gen to 4th gen.

I do believe the squashed nose look was to comply with new DOT regulations for SUVs.

With that being said... I ordered my 2/1 on the 3rd of this month...it STILL HASN'T SHIPPED. I'll be honest, I'm anxious as ****. I still can't decide if I made the right move over the 1in.

Josh, hows the gas mileage dif with those bigger tires?

It dropped almost exactly 1MPG, compared to the 265/65/17 Dunlops, but the aggressive look more than compensates for it.

My milage has barely dropped at all, and maybe someone can answer my question here?

Clearly the speedometer is wrong once you put the new tires on, but I was never sure where and how your computer calculates your milage, but wouldn't that now be wrong also?

You will actually be getting slightly better milage than is said.

Am I right?

I hope so, my computer reads in the mid 13MPG range, which means I am getting around 12mpg realistically. Although it is 100% city driving, it's also while keeping it under 2,000RPM most of the time. I never take it over 2,500 RPM though unless I need to make a lane change and pass someone.

Hey Even Steven.....do you have any more of those spacer kits left? I need to raise the front of my 00 4runner about 1.5 inches.
Thanks

And I would highly doubt he has another set of spacers lying around, he tried to pressure me into buying the ones he had, and tried convincing me that a 2/1 wasn't what I wanted. Ironically he had "just what I needed." Someone else ended up buying them a few months later.

ohio4runner4x4, just go to www.Burtmanindustries.com and look at their 1" leveling kits, they are only something like $150. They will give you that 1-1.5 inches of lift in the front.

You just need to do what works best for you/each person.

I've decided for now I'm going to do a 1" leveling kit , some FJ 17" alloys , and some new tires and leave it at that . I just drive to many miles at this point to do anymore.

Waiting to find rims , and I'll be good to go to put the package together .

Just out of curiosity, why 1 over the 2/1 in terms of you driving too many miles?

Well I'm a fan of the 2/1 , and still would love it , but I drive a lot sometimes at higher speeds , so I want to keep the handling there for now.

My 4R has taken me a lot of places with no offroad mods except bigger tires . So right now I want to keep the ride as close to the same . I drive 20-25 K per year and its my daily driver so at THIS point I just want to get a happy medium , between , look , stance , and practial function.

In my belief the more you alter something like height it takes away from handling ( by that I mean higher center of gravity ) also aero dynamics of the vehicle ( so will a leveling kit to a lesser extent extent ) and wear on drivetrain to some extent ( although not really documented on 4th gen. on the forum from what I've seen )

Dont get me wrong I think the 2/1 it a perfect size spacer lift and yeas I do get tempted , but I already have the 1" leveling kit so I'll put it on with my new rims and tires and see how it looks and drives and if I'm happy I'll leave it alone.

BUT , everyone here knows were never totally happy with our 4R's unless we are trying to modify something else .......:D it's a given especially when you hang out on here.

edit: also if my xreas ever takes a crap it would pull it off and go to an ome set up with new springs and shocks.
