2-din in 2003 T4R Limited -questions

Hello fellas,
I am a new owner of a excellent 2003 4runner Limited V6 - love it
It has a very simple CD played with a tape which I think is the very basic one that goes in the SR5. I am planning to get a Kenwood DNX6160 2-din unit and want to make sure I order the right part before I start the installation.

Here is the stereo that is in there and just want you to confirm that this is the very basic/non JBL/SR5 player:

Here are the rest of the hardware I consider getting:

Dash kit(is there OEM alternative for this?) - Toyota 4 Runner SR5 2003-2006 Radio Dash Kit Double Din - eBay (item 390201966362 end time Jul-27-10 06:54:27 PDT)

Do I need an antenna adapter ?

Also there is no external amplifier mounted somewhere, correct ?

I also read that the parking brake bypass on the Kenwoods is easy as grounding the "light green wire". Anyone done it on the new Kenwoods(dnx6160) that can confirm that it works ?

I just installed a DNX 5120 in my 2004 SR% that my daughter drives. No problems what so ever. I installed the iPod adapter and am waiting for the steering wheel control adapter to arrive so that I can put that in as well.

You are correct about the green wire for the DVD player. Simply grounding it will bypass the parking brake connection. Tested a DVD with and without the ground connected.

One thing I will point out, when you are removing the silver dash trim that goes around the head unit be sure to remove the 10mm screw on the bottom left side. You will first have to remove the panel under the steering wheel and it's two 10mm screws to reach the one I'm talking about. Other than that, a pretty easy job all in all.

Let us know how you like the 6160. Thinking about one of those for my 2008 SE so that I can get the Blue Tooth feature....curious to know how it works out.

Thanks for the pictures. I think I will go with the Metra kit. I might even spray it piano black so it matches the finish of the Kenwood unit.

Thanks for your input! I will let you guys know how the DNX6160 works. I had a Pioneer F900BT and it was a horrible unit. Almost every single feature had bugs even with the latest firmware 3.

Did you use the metra when you installed it? How did it fit with the Kenwood? Actually bought the unit from another member on the forum, so the adapter was already there and fit perfectly.
Did you have to use an antenna adapter or it's a standard connector that fits right in the back of the Kenwood? No antenna adapter, but I only used one of what appearded to be two antennaa plugs. No reception issues so far.

Just received the steering wheel control unit,PAC SWI-Jack. Starting the install today. From the looks of things this will be a little more complicated than the rest of the install.
