2 In 1 Key Fob 4Th Gen

Always looking for new ways to make my key ring Smaller for my Pocket....

Picked up this Beauty to replace my oem Fob and Key....

Got it cut by a lock smith for $3 and had my buddy at the dealership program it for me.

Old and bulky...

Much smaller and more compact. All buttons work just the same!

I like those switchblade style fobs, but having the panic button exposed on the side like that makes me think it'll get activated accidentally when jingling around in pockets with other keys and such. Let us know how it works long term, it would be nice to streamline my key ring a bit.

The panic button is much harder to press than all the others on the remote...I believe that's on purpose. Almost thought it didn't work for a minute. Don't think that will be a problem.

Got it cut by a locksmith, programmed it to unlock, lock, and roll glass down myself. With provided instructions....

You will need the dealer, or someone with a OBD2 computer to register the key to your 4R's computer before it will start the truck though.

I have a friend at Toyota that did the registering part for me. I will ask him what his dealership would charge to do it.

Cool idea. I do miss my Acura key blade.

I assume the "registering" is for the transponder? Isn't there a thread somewhere showing how to do this? Could've sworn I bumped into it looking at another project.

... If someone can confirm remote programming and transponder programming is DIYable with this key, I'm all in. Key cutting is pretty cheap.

Didn't even look into programing transponder myself....just asked my buddy at Toyota if he could do it for me before I bought it.

Yes!!! I can confirm you can program both yourself. If you follow the instructions in the link that was sent earlier in the thread!

Another thought:

The old post regarding using the ebay 5th gen key+fob combination had a problem with the battery constantly being drained and dying (less than a month, some less than a few weeks).

Let us know how this one does.

Key and Blade holding up great! No wiggles, no issues getting it to start....Couldn't be happier!

Also no issues with the panic button being exposed like that. It is too stiff to "accidentally" press.
