Does your security light keep on flashing without stopping? You might have too many keys already stored in memory and will have to wipe them to start fresh.

That happened to me. I only had a single key with mine when I bought it, so I picked up 2 keys and a spare remote. I was able to program the remote, but only 1 of the spare keys. Do you know how to wipe the memory? If you do wipe it, does it recognize ANY keys that were once programmed, or do you need to go to the dealer? That is why I didn’t bother buying one of these switchblade keys. I was afraid it would be a waste of money if I couldn’t get the transponder programmed.

Follow these steps to program new fobs and keys and also erase previous ones from memory.
It will retain the current key being used when you run the erase procedure.

You need a master key to initiate programming.

I tried erasing the codes and then programing the new fob without success. I have no problems pairing the fob that came with the truck but it doesn’t seem to want to accept the new one. May need to have a new one sent. My security light is flashing non stop as well. Even after erasing all fobs. It’s always flashing it seems. This is the light by the clock. Vehicle icon with key in the middle. Also, when erasing all codes, I get the 5 lock and unlocks, but I cannot pair in this mode. I have to exit and start over into program mode to program.

Are you sure the new fob is compatible, i.e. does it have the same FCC ID code as your original fob?

Here is the number specified on the one I bought.

FCC ID# HYQ12BAN HYQ1512Y HYQ12BBX

My current fob reads HYQ12BBX. It should work but it’s not. May need a replacement...

Let us know how the new fob is. I'm looking at gettting these because it's way too easy to activate the Panic mode on my current key fob.

An alternative to buying a new key fob (but not a 2 in 1 key) is just to buy the case. I have one of these myself. It looks great and beefy enough to throw around.

Finally programmed the key fob after having it in my possession for 3 months...lol. Weird part during programming was that it remote started the car. Really weird.

Now to go find a locksmith to cut the actual key...

I got it from eBay but I think it’s from this guy. Pretty much took two weeks or less I don’t remember lol.

I like it because it’s all hard buttons. I’m not a big fan of the Audi style key and this looked more OEM ish. Wish the trunk release button could be changed out though.

Yeah it rolls down with the long press.

It’d be nice if the button logo was like on the 3rd gen remotes.

The buttons are nice though. The symbols are not printed but carved into the button. Small gripe but it’s not affecting the usability at all.

I took it to my local Toyota dealer and they agreed to cut it, but were pretty adamant that it would not work. They charged $20 to cut it and then said that I would need them to use their laptop to program it. I said I'd watched a YouTube video and could do it myself. They completely scoffed at this. Anyway, five minutes in the parking lot, and I had it programmed. I explained how I did it and they were incredulous.

Excellent! Good for you showin up the stealer. I went to a local lock Smith to have my key cut I think he charged $8.
