'20 4R w/ Radar Detector - cause false alerts?

I thinking of trading my my '10 for a '20, however I run radar detectors in all of my vehicles (R3 or Max360) - I know for '20 they introduced LDA & PCS w/ PD - does anyone here run a detector with the new '20? Does it give false K alerts?

I'm a big radar detector enthusiast (I started a forum on the subject). And all these systems cause real issues with Radar Detectors. Though some manufacturers have figured out ways to filter out these radar safety systems.

The R3 and Max360 depending when purchased and if kept updated do filer out some if these falses. Best bet to be 100% sure is take a 2020 4R out for a drive (with your RD's) since its radar system may work on a different frequency than what your RD is set to filter. I hate when they change frequency's, Mazda used to never set them off, now its a problem too.

I specifically purchased my 2019 so i wouldn't have to worry about it. lol

Bet the R3 smokes the 360 in long rage detection's.

I knew the '19's did not have the nanny features but totally missed the '20's included them until recently, which has me concerned. As you know the % of RD users is rather slim with the population but I was hoping for a long shot here with my post. I may have to take a drive with my units to see what happens. I'm sure the sales rep will be laughing a bit.

Yes, the R3 will always smoke the 360 in range but the 360 has much better filtering - both are permanently mounted so I just power one off and the other one depending where I am. I ran the R7 for a bit but was not thrilled with it so it went back. Did you see what Radenso just released today and SEMA?! (enough OT ha).

Crossing my fingers from someone who can answer this other than that it looks like a trip to the dealer might be needed for the '19's sell out!

Installed hardwired escort in my 2020 this weekend, radar seems to work normally. I have not run the cruise control,so I cannot confirm if radar cruise will trigger it, but lane departure has no effect on the radar.

The lane departure picks up the information from the camera, not the radar

Nice to see an RDF member here (I was known as CJR238 there). Yes, herd about the new Radenso, i am waiting on the new V1 though, Radenso would be my 2nd choice after its been out for a while. I'm a bit picky. lol

No matter what I would still test. But going on the other Toyota's and there falsing its quite possible your R3 and 360 will do okay.

My other problem with these BSM being installed on the car you drive with a RD is it puts extra burden on the RD filtering it. Not sure how much that will effect performance on K band.

Get a sweet deal on a 2019 and not worry.

Depending on what version V1, VR has TMF and TMF2 upgrades that help filter falses like these. VR will be releasing a new RD soon. Ill do a full write up on it when i get it in a few months.

I'm glad cops only run ka here, I turned off k band alerts years ago when adaptive cruise control hit the market

(Although I did go through one small town in SC that had k-band, but that was in an area I wouldn't normally travel through)

still using my old trusty passport 9500

k band still shows on the display, so i can always turn on alerts if i start seeing k-band cops, but for now audio alerts are silenced so active cruise control can't annoy me.

only thing police related k-band i have in my area are the little speed control trailers they setup, but those don't give tickets, and i see k band with instant-on but so far it's always been paired with ka hits.

i used to be more into it and had built-in stealth detectors and quad laser shifters on my BMWs, but the 4Runner is too slow to need all that (and i can't imagine how many heads i would need for laser protection on such a big blocky vehicle)

I loved my 9500ix!

I have a set of LI laser sifters on my 4R, just 3 up front will do the job well. But yeah, i am no speed demon with my 4R so it really is just there to let me know when they are targeting me. Situational awareness is all i am looking for nowadays which is why ill only do a V1.

I currently run a RedLine and V1. The 2 best RD's ever made, going on 10+ years with them.

Interesting. The constant K band on crowded highways drives me bonkers. Guess I need to get mine updated.

No idea what version it is but it's old.

Got the new V1 Gen2 in March and i am blown away with its filtering. Long range has improved dramatically as well.

Definitely the leader in radar and filtering. They even kept up with updates through these tough times.

I have the Passport Escort Max 2 and really like it. I've been wanting to upgrade to one of the newer Escort 360's. I have K band shut off because of the false alerts on all the newer cars. Also noticed that cops in NH use KA band anyway.
