20" Wheels

Anyone ready to trade their Limited wheels for my SR5's yet? Located in MPLS - Just don't want the link to die =)
 
Goin out on a limb here... anyone have TE wheels they want to get rid of? I would gladly trade you my SR5's and/or throw down some Cash $$$..... Please feel free to PM me

The thing you have to make a decision about is the spare .Limited's have a alloy spare that is the exact same as the other 4. SR5's have a generic steel spare, not alloy like the other 4.
I kept my Limited wheel as a spare when I swapped. They are the same size height wise so no biggy there unless your the type that rotates the spare in to the mix when rotating tires. I myself just rotate front to back.

I just stopped by a couple of tire shops to inquire about changing from my 20's to the SR5 17's and they both told me that the TPMS program is not a problem, but the issue is resetting the main car computer so that it correctly displays the proper MPG and MPH readouts. Does this make any sense?

They said I would have to take it to the dealer to reprogram. Thoughts?

They should have ask you the size tires to figure out that the 20's and 17's are almost the exact same diameter,circumference and rev's per miles.
They will read the same MPG and MPH if you stay stock size.Here is a tire size calc. http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp?action=submit&reset=yes

That's correct. The slight differences in overall diameter between tire manufacturer's and/or a AT is minute. The difference harper7 is pointing out is when you upsize a tire, say from a 31" to 32", like what 4th gen owners do, from 265/65R17 to 265/70R17.

TPMS is only for tire pressure only.

The change in speedometer reading and MPG calculation is when you change tire sizes, like upsizing from a 32" to a 33" tire, etc. Because the tire now has a larger overall circumference when upsized, it'll make fewer revolutions when traveling the same distance, thus the speedometer reading is off and MPG calculations need to be taken into account for it.
 
This brings up a question I've always wondered about. I assume all of this is calculated using the diameter with brand new tire tread. As the tread wears down the diameter is smaller and therefore the revs per minute would change, and also all the numbers, correct? So you would get different MPG and MPH the more your tires wear down - or is this so tiny that it really makes no difference?
 
Ride Quality

For those of you who have changed from 20" to 17", have you noticed any difference in ride quality or "road feel"?

I'm interested in that, too. Here on our crappy Michigan winter roads, I notice that my 5g feels a little "choppier" than my 4g did. Don't know if it's my imagination or if there is really a difference. If the latter, is it because of changes in suspension or the change to 20 inchers?
 
does anyone here know what the offset is of the limited rims and sr5 rims? they are probably the same.
 
I've got brand new SR5 wheels in Texas. Let me know if you want to trade for your limited wheels.
 
Anybody close to Michigan looking for 20" wheels?

Scotty and I have been looking into swapping wheels, but we're so far apart that it doesn't look likely to happen. Is there anyone closer to Michigan interested in a swap?
 
BradJ in Texas - where are you located? I have a new Limited coming in about a week and might be interested in trading the new 20s with you, depending on how far I would have to drive to make the swap. I'm in northwest Arkansas and will be looking to trade my new 20s for new 17s in about a week. Thanks!
