2000 4Runner, Can I buy just the plastic shift indicator cover ?

Talking about the plastic piece that says P RND etc...dealer item I’m guessing?

That would be a console shift 3.4, 2WD

Personally, I would just go to a junk yard and get one. Dealership may sell them but if they do, it will probably be a small fortune.

Call your toyota dealer and confirm it comes with the lens you're after

35921-35190 is the part with the actual letters/numbers on it. Kind of a pain to replace, I did it on my 2WD shifter before the 4WD swap.

My reason for replacement is the weird bubbles that show up in the lens - is it fair to assume that there is no way to "repair" the bubbles?

I've been scouring the junkyards for these as well, I think it'd be very hard to find one in good shape (at least from my experience). So I'll probably just grab a new one from Amayama.

I have the same issue with the bubbles. Just can’t get myself to spend $40 on that little piece. Only bad thing is I can’t tell what gear I’m in at night and the 97 doesn’t have the indicator on the dash.

The shifter I have now is from a '97 and has a couple bubbles. The backlight color also doesn't *quite* match the rest of the dash in my '99. Eh, not the end of the world, I suppose. Maybe I should put that on my list for the next OEM parts order I make.

Yeah, me too. Sort of spendy, but it's something I look at every day, so probably worth it.

sorry for the bump, before I wrecked my 4runner I had bought an extra shifter shroud thinking that I could just replace that, nope! thank god it had the indicator cover.

How exactly would one go about replacing it? Just pop it off with a flathead or is there more to it?

It is a 4wd if that helps, I know this post is for 2wd however I can't justify making a new post asking the same question.
