I just got a new to me 2000 4Runner Limited 2WD. So far so good. It was a Maryland vehicle, so there is a bit of rust underneath, but nothing too serious. So far, I have taken the running boards off and pulled the grill off to be painted flat black, probably Plasti-Dip. I'm planning to do the emblems as well, and get it tinted eventually. Onto the real conversation and questions..
Has anyone completely replaced the cat(s) with a full bolt on deal? While I was under there pulling the boards off, I noticed that I had 2 cats and thus a CA vehicle. It already tripped the engine light and set a P0420 code. I got it reset and it has stayed off for the last 40 miles or so. I'm hoping the light stays off, but if it comes back on I'd rather replace everything and put the cheaper sensors and a URD Fooler on there rather than deal with 2 cats and the AF sensor. I am in Atlanta, but the vehicle is registered in my hometown where no one has any idea what emissions checks are.
Does anyone make a rock slider type of deal that bolts on where the running boards come off? I'm not a big fan of running boards, especially on a vehicle this low, but at the same time I don't like looking at the frame, body mounts, link bars, etc. I can probably get something fabbed up, but I would like to see what is already out there for ideas.
Overall, I plan to keep this vehicle fairly stock with only minor cosmetic mods and small performance mods as they need to be done. I do plan to do the deckplate and ISR. I had a F250 previously with a lot of money in it, and while it was fun, you never get your money back at resale and in the end you always end up spending a ridiculous amount of money on maintenance. I may turn it into a trail truck eventually once I get out of college which was half the reason of not minding 2WD. If I end up building it, it will get a SAS anyways.
Also, any pictures of light colored 4Runners with flat black accents would be nice, silver/black especially.
2001 F250 around 375HP with motor and transmission stuff out the wazoo.
