2000 4runner!

hi everybody im new and im about to buy a toyota 2000 4runner and im kinda in the middle of buying it but first i wanted to see what everybody thinks about if its a good deal or not it has:
* 2.7 4cyl engine
* 97k miles
* Automatic
* 2WD
* AC
* Premium sound Pioneer MP3/XM player and amplifiers
* Roof rack
* Running boards
* Keyless remote entry
* Towing package
* Cruise control
* Alarm system
* Tinted Windows
* Power windows, locks and mirrors
* Power steering
* Tilt wheel
* Alloy wheels
* Clean title history

and im getting that for $8,300-$8,500 US dollars so EVERYBODY is that a good deal its my first car im buying!!!!

yeah i know the kelly blue book value but i want to hear thru everybodys own expirence and how much they got there 2000 4runner

Personally, I think it's too much for a 2WD 4 cylinder truck. I don't know what the prices are but I've seen other 3rd gens that are 4WD and similar miles but the same price. You'd get more power and these trucks are supposed to last so mileage should be less of an issue. Just my two cents...

no rust so far theres been 2 owners and if i buy it i'll be the 3rd clean title but theres a dent on the back trunk door worn out tires and the driver seat is an aftermarket bucket seat which i think looks ugly i rather have the original driver seat but he doesnt have it yup and thats it
 
Hmmm... I would say it's a good price depending on the condition that it. I'm in the similar boat, I have pretty much the same car sans the tow package, keyless entry and alarm. I got mine last November, from a dealer, in (what I consider mint) great condition, 68k miles, certified platinum warranty (extra $2k). It was marked at 15999, with the warranty and taxes, I was out the door at 12k. So, maybe you could find a nicer one for around 9k. I wouldn't tow anything with the 4cyl, unlike most people here, I like the 4cyl a whole lot better for economy reasons. If you're like me, you're a young guy/girl who's in school and your looking at least $45 to fill it up. You'll also be driving the 4cyl a little more consertivatly... using even less gas. If I had the 6, I'd be pushing it a lot. Also remember... how fast do you want to go in t 4runner??? it's not a sports car.
 
im not really into the sport speed how fast does your 4runner go but i do want it to hang on the freeways and when i need power i want the power right there but the speed is just my big issue i could careless im a student so gas would be good with this car right? its in excellent condition besides the dent on the back trunk door so do u experts think i should get it were meeting up tomarrow i think or wednesday
 
Don't get all crazy and purchase it on the spot. I know it's exciting and everything, and you want it now. Trust me, the guy wants more than anything to sell it, so if you get it checked out, he'll understand. Blow the $80 and get it checked out. I've made mistakes before because I got excited, then everytime you drive the damn thing, you're cursing yourself. When I say good on gas, I don't really mean it's "good on gas", it's just better than the 6. Honestly, the 4cyl is not much slower than the 6.
 
Go drive the 4 cylinder and then drive a V6 in the same conditions since hills do make the diff between the 4 and 6. Gas mileage isn't much better than the 4 cylinder with the 6 and I'd take the power over a little less mileage. The 4 bangers also have the smaller wheels and that really shows on the 4Runners.
 
The 2.7 is a good motor, your talking a difference of 33 HP, 2.7 is 150hp while the 3.4 in the Runner is 183hp, so you will notice that power. But you are getting a 2wd, so it's lighter and that will help with the power. I have a 2k 4wd 2.7 5 speed and it does just fine, it will pull up hills in fifth and usually can accelerate a bit. I have driven a few sixes and the difference isn't all people make it out to be, problem is many people think the 6 is underpowered, so what chance would the 4 have for them. As for the tires, larger tires were an option, so some V6 Runners have the little tires and some I4's have the big tires. My 2000 came with the factory 16" rims and 265/70/16, so the motor has nothing to do with the size of the tire. Chances are a 2wd will have the 15" rims. The gear ratio will be important to you, w/ the 2.7 and auto hopefully the truck will have 4.56 gears, that's what mine has, in which case you will be fine. As far as MPG, driven conservatively expect 19-22 in town and 23-26 on the highway, and no matter what anyone says the 4 will get noticably better mileage than the 6, plus maintenance costs are less, no pesky T belt to change.
 
If you plan on towing anything more than Jetski or two then get the 6 since that's where the bigger is better part will show up with low end grunt but you can't beat the 4's MPGs with a 5 speed.
I think the 4 cylinder models also have smaller brakes and 15" wheels so look for the bigger wheels since some looks should be important and Runners on 15"s look funny IMO.
 
hehehe i love telling everyone about my Mint Condition-Dealer Serviced-96 limited-4x4- V6-with 110k that i bought straight out for 6 grand.... AAAHAHAHAHAHAHA ..... j/k.... 4cyl--2wd...that's weak... nah if it's what you want go for it but have it checked out...
