Keep an eye out on this thread, i'll be documenting my swap, i'm not sure exactly when i'll be starting it, but i'll be updating here when the swap begins.

Might also be documenting over on this forum a bit more, as that is where all my information comes from:

+1, but that is because I am partial to folks who reside in NC.

Is anyone replacing the engine mounts for the swap? Do ya have to? I would guess so.

This Monday is dragging for me here at work.

engine mounts need to be custom made, i'm in no race, sorry to tell you all, this might happen next summer. Got lots on the go right now! Go singtoe go, and then let me in on some info that you learned along the way to help speed up when i do mine!

i wish i could do this. i miss the 1uz power of my old LS400. btw are u going to run the vvti version?

I have not been taking good pictures, but here are a few things that can help..

1. motor mounts are custom, and be sure to box in the frame or add support, you are going to be getting alot more torque

2. if ou want to run 4x4 on your Lexus swap, it is VERy easy to do the following
...take the tail shoaft of of your donor lexus tranny (AW Trans)
....go to salvage yard and find a jeep cherokee with a np231 tcase (watch out for the 232) be sure to get the t-case and t-case adaptor.
.....cut the tailshaft on your transmission (cut off threads + 1/2 inch of splines.
......clean np231 mounting surfaces and tail shaft mounting surface on tranny
....... bolt the tcase to lexus drivetrain (fits exactly like it came out of the jeep
........ put a jeep short shaft kit on the t-case output
......... use factory jeep speed sensor on tcase (manual will work if you have it)

thats it. 4x4 lexus drive train, no adaptors, no special wiring, and all parts are easy to find and very inexpensive.

another thing to remember, advanced adaptors makes toyota drive flanges for you axles that let you use spicer joints, makes hookign to the np231 a snap.

I will post more pics when I make it back to the shop..

that is not so easy, remember the starter on the V8 in on top of the engine, under the intake...i am not sure there is a bellhousing that will mate the two.

He would be using the V8 bell housing on the original tranny so it should matter.

There is the big issue of using the OEM tranny. It needs the oem ecu to make it work. Plus it will need a downshift cable installed on to the UZ1.

Plus the OEM ECU for the UZ1 will need some tranny inputs so it doesn't throm any CEL.

i actually would rather keep my multi mode 4wd, i really like the 4wd options that it has, i'll be swapping bell housings.

x2, i got away from the new process stuff when i left my xj and zj behind why would i want to go back, if i remember correctly the np242 should have a multi-mode function in it as well and is interchangeable with the 231 in jeep applications so maybe it will work here if your still considering this.

the 242 is actually stronger then the 231 as per new process' part numbering but has more moving parts and higher chance of breaking because of that.

either way, i'm over jeep stuff in general and when my 250k motor dies on me i'm looking at these swaps i'm not going to consider anything jeep/domestic related in my better built toyota, just my opinion.....
