2000 SR5 running board end cap question

i found a site that sells the end caps for these. question is, has anyone put the rear caps on the front to get rid of the part that goes into the flare? i dont want to get the caps that just curve into the fenders because i plan on getting some BW flares in the near future.

i was looking at mine today and it looks like i could take the rear right and put it on the front left.

ideas??
