So my check engine light came on recently and has prevented me from passing my smog test and what happens is my engine idles rough but then acts normal once i start driving. I had autozone check the codes because my check engine light was on and I got p0300 and p0301 and the guy there said i should change me spark plugs and ignition coils so I did that. The light was still on and the car still idled rough so I took it to a local mechanic to check it out and they determined it was a valve problem in cylinder 1 (the pressure was 120, cylider 2 and 3 were 160 and 4 was 180) and they said I needed a full valve job in that cylinder and it would take 1-2 weeks and cost upwards of $2k. I am a novice at carp repairs so can anyone give me some advice on how to get this fixed with out spending an arm and a leg? help please!
