2000 v6 won't complete drive cycle so failed smog

Just purchased another 4runner and since I live in Cali I have to get the car smogged. Passed all the physical tests but the drive cycle is not complete so they won't give me a pass. The truck had a new catalytict converter replaced last June with new O2 sensors.

I've tried all the tricks to get the drive cycle to complete and have put probably 500 miles on the vehicle, what is the deal? It's at a local shop to see if they can find an issue. I have a bluedriver odb2 monitor I can check the car and it reads the o2 sensors ok?

Any thoughts on what the issue could be?

Have you met all of the conditions to complete a drive cycle? Do you know which monitors aren't set?

There's also a chance that your OBD reader is causing the problem too (resetting the codes resets the readiness monitors at the same time - it may be doing that without your knowledge). I'd go through the procedures outlined in the document above first though.

I've tried the tsb drive cycles for the catalyst but it's still not completing. I'm guessing it's because they used an aftermarket O2 sensor that is not a denso, have others had this issue?

If I remember right, mine would not pass smog in January because a "catalytic converter not ready" code. My mechanic reset the computer, and asked me to drive it another 60 miles. I went back to smog place and it passed.

Makes sure your ECT sensors are working properly. I was low on coolant and since the ECT sensors were not reading correctly, if didn't complete the cycle. As soon as I added coolant and burped the system, it worked flawless.

I just drove. Mechanic reset the computer and told me to drive at least 60 miles, with some street driving. I drove on the freeway for about 50 miles, then about another 15 miles on the street. I went back to the smog place that same day and he said I passed.

What are the ect sensor? Elect coolant temp?

ECT = Engine Coolant Temp
If the coolant temperature is not reading correctly, the cycling will not be complete. Took me 3 months to figure that out, multiple Toyota Techs looking thru it.
