2001 4runner

So I have an 01 4runner that I picked up from a guy and he swapped out the transfer case and I think the transmission as well to the 96-98 year. Now I know the transfer case is different and I've found someone that I could pick one up from. I am curious about the 4wd system though, I'm reading all around the 01-02 are electronically controlled and all others are vacuum controlled through the VSV. My 01 currently has a VSV installed manually done by the previous owner.

Other than swapping the transfer case out, what else am I looking for to get her back to it's original state. I would very much like be able to use the 4wd lights on my dash, rather than shifting to 4H or 4L and sticking my head out the window.

We will definitely need to see some pics.

- Engine bay (mostly driver's side)
- Transfer case
- Front diff actuator

If a pre-'01 transmission was swapped in, something had to have been done with the trans kick-down cable (not there on the '01/'02 transmissions).

At the least you will need:
- Transfer case
- Front and rear driveshafts
- Front diff actuator (if he really did swap to VSVs)

Then you will have the fun of figuring out why he swapped...
