2001 vs 2005 4Runner

I am deciding between a 2001 Limited with 90k for $12k out the door or a 2005 SR5 w/leather and moon-roof with 97k for $14k. I spent the past two weeks researching both trucks and have come to the conclusion that the 05 is the better car for the better deal. I am paying cash for both so why you ask am I posting a thread looking for help? For some feeling inside me that I cant explain I cant pull the trigger on the 05. I will say that the salesman rubbed me the wrong way just didn't get a great vibe. My mechanic of 20years will check out both cars thoroughly and tell me his thoughts and opinion but I wanna hear from owners of these cars. Convince me to do what I rationally and practically think is right but having trouble emotionally making the decision. FYI i owned a 92 camry for 12 years which may have something to do with my attraction to the 01.

That price is fair for the 05 depending on options and engine package. Way too high IMO on the 01 but who knows. Tell us more about each vehicle like all the trim options they have.

both will be good, you need to drive both and see what you like better, drive them for more than a few miles though.

I say go for the '05. Much more power and comfort and plenty of aftermarket support for both. You get more for your money in this case. But definitely drive them both up hills, on the highway, around town, etc.

Way to high on the 01. I've had both, I would prefer the 4th gen by far. Has the timing belt been changed on the 01? If not, it needs done right away and raises the price a good bit. The 05 doesn't have a timing belt to worry with, so that's a plus imo.

I had a buddy who went from a '99 to '06 and he said each one is has its pros & cons (I just bought a '05).

What do you plan on doing?

'01 is a Limited with all the Bells & Whistles of its time.
'05 Does it have aftermarket leather seats (cloth listed as well)? Only the Limiteds came with Leather from Toyota.

leather was an option on all packages. wrong #2.

Ok I've had both the 99 Limited and 03 Sport Edition V6 and personally I miss my 4th Gen, just wish it was the Limited. 4th Gen has more bells and whistles, it's roomier, more power and a lot of aftermarket support. That 01 seems overpriced, bought my '99 with a S/C with 120k for 5600, just a thought!

Just out of curiosity, how does your supercharged 3.4 compare to the stock 4.0 you had in the 4th gen?

Thanks for all the input everyone. If it all checks out with my mechanic I will get the 05. I feel the 01 is overpriced too.

Are you sure about that? If you are looking at the 2005 4Runner sale brochure, I don't see leather seats listed as an option for the SR5 or Sport. For the SR5 interior seats they are listed as:
Manually adjustable 8-way driver and 4-way passenger fabric seat

And then you have these Options on an SR5 (as for interior goes):
- JBL Synthesis 3-in-1 AM/FM Cassette/CD with ten speakers
- JBL Synthesis 3-in-1 AM/FM Cassette/6-disc in-dash CD changer and ten speakers
- Rear-seat audio system with remote control and wireless headphone capability
- Third-row foldaway 50/50 split fold-down removable seats (second-row tumble-forward with third-row seats)
- Double-decker cargo system with net
- Leather-wrapped steering wheel with integrated cruise and audio controls
- HomeLink®12 universal transceiver
- Driver and front passenger sliding sun visors with illuminated vanity mirror
- Auto-dimming rearview mirror with compass
- 115V AC power outlet
